 It’s the stuff of child and adult dreams alike, a fantastic lair cleverly hidden high among tree branches. 

The magical treehouse uses mirrors to seamlessly blend in with the natural surroundings deep in the forests of Sweden. 

From certain perspectives, the effect is so persuasive that you can’t even make out the structure among the boughs.

The mirrored den is made of an aluminium frame with plywood and birch walls that are covered in reflective glass.

But a single 28cm diameter living tree is all that holds up the seven tonne abode, running directly through the interior of its cube structure. A restraining brace and cables keep the trunk stable. 

 

The mirrored cube makes up just one guest suite in the very unique Tree Hotel in Sweden.

The lofty living spaces feature in tonight’s episode of George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, as presenter and architect George looks for inspiration to build his own treehouse in the Kielder National Park.  

 
The mirror cube is joined by a UFO-inspired suite that’s suspended among the branches where guests step aboard via a ladder, which is automatically let down from a hatch door. The circular design help to maximise every inch of the 30 metre squared space.  
There is also a ‘bird’s nest’ suite and a ‘telescope cabin’ that’s suspended 50 feet in the air.George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces airs on Channel 4 tonight at 8pm.
