Following the game’s long awaited release earlier this week, industry analysts have claimed that a GTA 5 for Xbox One and PS4 launch will be held next year.
While developer Rockstar has yet to make any formal announcement on its plans to bring GTA 5 to next-gen consoles, Robert W. Baird analyst Colin Sebastian has claimed that a 2014 Xbox One and PS4 GTA 5 release is on the cards. There is still no word on whether or not a GTA 5 PC release will appear.
In a note to investors, Sebastian stated that a 2014 Xbox One and PS4 GTA 5 release would "help extend the value of the franchise."
Having hit retailers on Tuesday, September 17, the previously delayed new instalment to the Grand Theft Auto franchise has become the fastest selling game of all time,
shifting 1.57 million copies in the UK alone within its opening 24 hours on sale.
As well as setting records in the UK, GTA 5 has set global records as the highest grossing day one release, taking in a staggering $800 million in sales in 24 hours.
Despite the huge day one sales, Sebastian has also predicted that GTA 5 will not exceed early sales estimates, with a large portion of interest in the game having already been translated into sales.
"We are now modeling 13-14 million units shipped in F2Q. We believe there is still potential upside to our targets," the analyst told investors.
He added: "However, given the possibility that sales of GTA are front-loaded, we will await further sales data before adjusting our expectations further."
Rockstar has yet to comment on the latest next-gen GTA 5 release rumours.
